Laminins are large hetero-trimeric, non-collagenous glycoproteins composed of α, β, and γ chains. This MAb reacts with laminin B2/1 chain of ~210 kDa and does not cross-react with other basement membrane components or fibronectin. Its specificity was established by immunoprecipitation and immunofluorescence of human skeletal muscle and kidney with laminin chain-specific MAbs. Recognizes a 67 kDa glycoprotein, which is identified as CD33. It is a transmembrane protein of the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) family. It belongs to the immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif (ITIM)-containing molecules able of recruiting protein tyrosine phosphatases SHP-1 and SHP-2 to signal assemblies; these ITIMs are also used for ubiquitin-mediated removal of the receptor from the cell surface. CD33 is expressed on cells of myelomonocytic lineage, binds sialic acid residues in N- and O-glycans on cell surfaces, and is a therapeutic target for acute myeloid leukemia. The mouse monoclonal antibody recognizes CD1b, a 44 kDa type I glycoprotein associated with beta2-microglobulin. It is expressed on dendritic cells, Langerhans cells, thymocytes, and T acute lymphoblastic leukemia cells. The CD1 multigene family encodes five forms of the CD1 T-cell surface glycoprotein in human, designated CD1A, 1B, 1C, 1D and 1E. CD1, a type 1 membrane protein, has structural similarity to the MHC class I antigen and has been shown to present lipid antigens for recognition by T lymphocytes. CD46 acts as a cofactor for complement factor I, a serine protease, which protects autologous cells against complement-mediated injury by cleaving C3b and C4b deposited on host tissue. This antibody recognizes a cell surface glycoprotein of 95/115/135 kDa (depending upon the extent of glycosylation), identified as CD43 . Epitope of MAb Bra7G is clearly different from that of MAb DF-T1, called b as opposed to a for DF-T1. 70-90% of T-cell lymphomas and from 22-37% of B-cell lymphomas express CD43. No reactivity has been observed with reactive B-cells. So a B-lineage population that co-expresses CD43 is highly likely to be a malignant lymphoma, especially a low-grade lymphoma, rather than a reactive B-cell population. When CD43 antibody is used in combination with anti-CD20, effective immunophenotyping of the lymphomas in formalin-fixed tissues can be obtained. Recognizes a glycoprotein of 44-88 kDa, which is identified as CD28. It is the critical T-cell co-stimulatory receptor which provides to the cell the important second activation signal by binding CD80 and CD86 that are expressed by antigen presenting cells. Besides its co-stimulation role, CD28 functions in preventing T-cells from anergic hyporesponsive state or from undergoing premature apoptotic cell death. The product of this gene is a membrane bound glycosylated enzyme that is not expressed in any particular tissue and is, therefore, referred to as the tissue-nonspecific form of the enzyme. Recognizes a protein of 33-55 kDa, identified as CD53 (Workshop VI; Code N-L033). It is expressed on monocytes and macrophages, dendritic cells, osteoblasts and osteoclasts, and on T and B cells from every stage of differentiation but is absent from platelets, red blood cells. CD98 exits as a heterodimer containing a disulphide-linked glycosylated heavy chain and a non-glycosylated light chain. It is a member of the solute carrier family and encodes a cell surface, transmembrane protein. The encoded transporter plays a role in regulation of intracellular calcium levels and transports L-type amino acids.
